Coping as a Team

As strong and resilient as we all like to think we are, sometimes we just can’t do it on our own. Having a group of supportive individuals who are in a similar position can encourage growth and change, and not only for yourself. When you participate in group therapy, you’re entering a collaborative experience that helps shape your life and the lives of others. While initially it can be challenging to share with a group of strangers, you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the reward for doing so. Listening to others in a similar situation gives you perspective and can also give you a sense of responsibility as you’re contributing to the emotional support of others in your group.

What Does Group Therapy Look Like?

Typically our groups are made up of five to eight people who are facing similar challenges as well as one or more counselors. The group meets on a weekly basis for a specific time frame and sessions usually last between 60 and 90 minutes. Participants are expected to keep everyone’s name confidential outside the group, a responsibility that’s taken very seriously.

Some health savings plans cover group therapy without the requirement of a mental health diagnosis. If you have questions or concerns about the cost of therapy, please let us know.
